Shaun Lopez

My name is Shaun Lopez. I am about Solar Energy and Surfing. Solar Energy for life. Surfing big energy waves for fun.
We are all solar creatures. We revolve on around the sun. Every one of our lives is connected to the sun. The Sun shines on all of us. It warms the world. It makes electricity. It grows food for us. It wakes us up. It makes wind. Wind makes waves. We ride those waves. Energy…. Energy waves. Light waves. Seismic waves. Energy.
I am born and raised in Hawaii. I have been solar and the construction industry for most of my professional life. My family has a civil engineering company that I grew up in, Lopez General Engineering. I started work with Rising Sun Solar 17 years ago in 2006. My solar career has taken me across most facets of the industry. From pulling wires in attics and laying panels on roofs to sales, marketing and project management. Grid tied and off grid. Residential to commercial. I love the dynamic industry that solar industry is. This is the front lines of the energy revolution.

From a young age Matt has cared deeply about helping others and the environment. Matt felt that customers didn’t have a true representative in the sales and installation process, so he set out to change that.
With a background in project management, Matt moved into the world of renewable energy. A quick learner, Matt rose through the ranks, starting as a Residential Project Manager and becoming Director of Sales Operations and Sales Engineering at the second largest installer in the state.
Matt was responsible for spearheading the largest Tesla Solar Roof installation operation in the state and has managed or sold over 500 solar and battery projects.
Matt excels at explaining technical concepts to non-technical people, and has consulted for multi-billion dollar investment firms in the areas of photovoltaic inverters, photovoltaic panels, battery storage systems (BSS), and industry trends.
When he’s not working, he spends time with his family, practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and following The Arsenal.
